A short drive from Paris, stands the estates of Versailles. Versailles estates, particularly the Palace of Versailles and its surrounding grounds, are renowned for their opulence and grandeur. The palace, once a hunting lodge, was transformed by Louis XIV into a symbol of absolute monarchy in France. A visit to Versailles should certainly be on top of one’s list if you are planning to travel to France. I have to say that Versailles is also on top of our list for our clients proposal recommandation.

Versailles estates; a historical scenery!

Jose & Gabriella visited the castle in the morning before heading to their engagement picnic. We set up their romantic picnic half way between the castle and the “Hameau de la reine”.

The Hameau de la Reine, or the Queen’s Hamlet, is a charming rustic retreat nestled within the grounds of the Palace of Versailles. Built in the late 18th century for Queen Marie Antoinette, it’s like a picturesque village straight out of a fairy tale. Complete with thatched cottages, a shimmering lake, and lush gardens, the Hameau was Marie Antoinette’s private sanctuary away from the formalities of court life. Here, she would escape the pressures of royalty. She would immerse herself in the simple joys of country living, tending to her gardens, enjoying leisurely strolls, and hosting intimate gatherings with her closest friends.

Today, visitors can wander through this idyllic haven, soaking in its serene beauty and imagining life as a queen in a storybook village. The hameau de la reine is certainly an all time favorite of ours.

Marie Antoinette wasn’t just about lavish balls and extravagant parties. She also had a soft spot for the simple pleasures, like picnics. Picture her spreading out a luxurious blanket on the grass, surrounded by her closest friends and confidants, as they indulge in an array of delicacies. There’s champagne flowing, delicate pastries, fresh fruit straight from the orchards, and perhaps even a selection of cheeses fit for a royal palate.

Paris romantic winter engagement

A Paris romantic winter engagement.

There is no real season for a Paris engagement photo session and a traditional gourmet picnic. We had the great pleasure to produce a Paris romantic winter engagement just recently for our clients. Our clients flew all the way from San Francisco. First time in Paris, first time in France for both of them.

Ian reached out to us with the idea of proposing to his girlfriend while staying in Paris. We organized our winter gourmet deco picnic at the Eiffel Tower for them.

Because of the winter season, we may ask you to be a little flexible with time and schedule for your event. We would be in touch the day before to finalize all of the little details together. In case of a rainy forecast during the day, we might suggest to wait a little while or postpone to the next day if possible. We can also set up your picnic under one of the shelter at the champ de Mars.

Paris proposal with a gourmet picnic.

We do propose a winter Picnic menu for the winter season. Our winter deco picnic comes with a traditional baguette, a hot vegetable soup, a selection of cheeses, a selection of cold meats, a vegetable quiche, seasonal salad, fruits and chocolates. Our Paris picnic is also served with hot tea and champagne. An engagement picnic is usually set up either at the Eiffel Tower or Versailles gardens.

Our gourmet winter picnic also comes with a beautiful deco set up. It includes our traditional wicker picnic baskets, a set of designer cushions, a couple of cashmere plaids, a warm cotton blanket, customized menu, candles.

A Paris professional photographer for your engagement.

Any of our gourmet picnics can be coupled with a professional photo session. You will also find detailed information on our proposal page which includes various engagement photography sessions.

This is how it goes!

We make the process very easy. Our gourmet picnic would be set up and ready to enjoy when you arrive at the choosen location. It is usually best to propose when you arrive to the picnic set once settled.

Our photographer would take your surprise proposal photos from the distance. He would then introduce himself and take a few more photographs at the picnic site during the first half hour. You can then crack open the bottle of champagne & enjoy your Paris picnic with your loved one.

You would usually have an hour and a half to enjoy your gourmet picnic. Once you finish your lunch, our photographer can take you around the Eiffel Tower for another half hour. Engagement packages offer different photography lengths from a mini photo session to two hours of professional photography around Paris.

A unique Parisian experience.

Ian and Jay had their engagement photographed when they arrived at the champ de Mars. Following their lunch hour, our photographer took them around the Eiffel tower for the remaining 1/2 hour of photography.

We organised another hour of photography at the Louvre, rue de Rivoli and the gardens of the palais Royal. My favorite location for engagement photos although Paris is simply gorgeous all over.

What could be more romantic then an engagement at the gardens of Versailles!

Our clients had met over six years ago in Paris while studying at HEC business school. They started dating on a day trip to Versailles organised by the school. Christopher remembered that they first kissed while having a picnic at the canal. They had enjoyed a traditional apple tart for desert on that day so the story goes.

Christopher contacted “Love Picnic Paris” a while back with the idea of proposing to his girlfriend Johanna where they first kissed along the canal of Versailles gardens. His special request was to include a traditional apple tart for desert.

Isn’t that a wonderful idea!

We do love going to versailles ourselves and we were thrilled to plan Christopher’s proposal. An engagement at the gardens of Versailles is so romantic. It is exciting to be part of it & help making this plan come true.

We have been planning our clients engagements at the gardens of Versailles for quite a few years. We do love going to the park for an afternoon strall ourselves when business allows! Birthday picnic idea in Versailles. The gardens of Versailles are a gorgeous romantic setting to celebrate your wedding anniversary with your spouse while visiting the estate for the day. We will set up our deco gourmet picnic on the shade under of of the oldest oak tree of the park. The process is very simple. Order one of our gourmet picnic on the service page of our website. You can request a deco set up via the text box with any detail information you wish to share with us.

We set date and time with you and you are all set. You picnic will be geo localize 1/2 an hour prior to your lunch time. This way you will easilly be able to direct yourself to the picnic location.

A wonderful romantic afternoon at Versailles

A Romantic afternoon at Versailles gardens.

Versailles is the most enchanted destination, only a short drive away from Paris. We love setting up our gourmet picnics under one of those historical tree. You can visit the castle in the morning then walk down to the canal to restore yourself with families, friends and loved ones.

We set up our deco picnic for Nicolas under one of the most amazing oak tree of the park. Nicolas proposed to his girlfriend on the most beautiful afternoon. This part of the park is a little off track from the main touristic area. It is really the most amazing setting for a romantic afternoon.

We are often asked for a private setting to organize our proposal picnics. The Eiffel tower area is the first choice for a surprise proposal in Paris. Some of our clients are looking for something a little different, a little more discreet!

Once you decide on proposing at the gardens of Versailles for your engagement, we will plan everything for you so that your engagement is stress free. Destination Versailles for your surprise proposal.

We simply LOVE heading to Versailles for the day. Regardless of the season, Versailles estate is the most amazing historical site located only half an hour west of Paris. A lot of our clients decide on Versailles to propose to their girlfriend. Versailles gardens are definitely our favorite escape for a gourmet picnic and the perfect setting for a secret proposal.

Visits to the palace start at 9am while the Trianon estate opens at noon.You can purchase your tickets in advance through the official Versailles estate website. The palace as well as the Trianon estate are open every day apart from monday. The park and the gardens are open every days. There are three train stations running from Paris. Located on Boulevard de la Reine, the Queens gates give you access to the park with a car. There is a charge of €12 to access the park by car.

January is a time to share some of the lovely Paris engagement & surprise proposal photo stories that we had the pleasure to organize with “Love Picnic Paris” this past year. If you visit our blog for the first time, we started ” Love Picnic Paris” over five year ago with the desire to share a little bit of our French culture & lifestyle. We designed 4 different French style gourmet picnics with our traditional wicker baskets and various decor items such as candles, cashmere plaids, cushions … for a very romantic experience!

Our gourmet picnics can be set up at various landmarks around Paris such as the Eiffel tower, the Louvre gardens as well as Versailles gardens.

Today we are blessed to produce our gourmet picnics for amazing clients who visit Paris from all over the world. A while back, Néo reached out to us with the idea of proposing to his long time girlfriend while visiting the city. Due to international Covid travel restrictions, his plans were delayed a whole year! We all had plenty of time to fine tune the perfect surprise gourmet picnic proposal. Most of our dear clients decide to propose in front of the Eiffel tower. Noah had the idea to take advantage of a day trip to Versailles to propose to his sweet heart. We thought it was a wonderful idea.

Lets plan your surprise proposal at Versailles gardens.

First, we decide on the menu with our clients and the style of picnic they are after. Noah decided on our « Amelie Poulain » gourmet picnic with a bottle of champagne.

The next step is usually to fine tune the exact picnic location. In order to do so, we usually sent a map with a cross marking the spot. We then communicate detailed information as to how to get there. In case of our Versailles location, it is an easy walk down the main alley from the castle to the water boat area!

We do ask for a phone number so that we communicate 1/2 hour before picnic time the exact spot using whatsapp geolocalization which always come handy!

Once the picnic is ready with balloons, blanket and all the different props involved, we send the green light!

Our professional photographer will document our client surprise proposal from the distance. He will then congratulate our couple and take a few more photographs when they toast and cheer to this beautiful day!

Once the lunch is over, olivier will take our couple around the park for their engagement photo story. The process is fun and creative as you can see with this little selection of photos.
