Ellen + Matthis Champs de Mars Picnic Photo Session

Leon Picnic at the “Champs de Mars” for lovers in Paris.

Ellen & Matthis enjoyed our “Leon Picnic” that we delivered to them at the “Champs de Mars” overlooking the Eiffel tower. We prepared their picnic basket with a selection of cold meat, baguette from our local bakery, our all time favorite chocolate and apple cake that they enjoyed with a bottle of French wine.
Ellen is from Ireland and met Matthis in Paris over 6 months ago. They wanted to celebrate their love story over a picnic and a photo session with Olivier around the Eiffel tower. It was wonderful meeting the both of them. They are a perfect match made in heaven. We wish both of them the most amazing love story for the years to come.

Week end away

Lovers + Week End in Venice

Lovers in Venice.

We have just returned from a four days trip to Venice! Full of new ideas in our travel kit, we enjoyed the city paste & quietness of the streets, kindness of its inhabitants, the food of course and the simple beauty of this romantic city. We have tried a few wonderful restaurants, enjoyed the long walks along its little streets. I loved the vaporetto rides & the crisp light reflecting in the water.
Now back to Paris with some new ideas for our forthcoming picnics in the city. We have just had a little walk on the “Champs de Mars” this afternoor where people were gathered on the grass sipping wine and enjoying each other company. It is nice to be back in Paris!

Paris picnic recipe

Return from the Market + Picnic Shopping

Sweet Potatoe Quiche + Spinach and mushrooms.

We are trying new recipes for our picnics in Paris. Today a gluten free sweet potatoe quiche. Spring is on its way so we went to do our shopping at the “marché d’Aligre”, one of our favorite market place in central Paris. We had some wine and oysters at the café “Le Tambour” discussing food and local product with friends before we rushed back home to try this new recipe!

I can tell you it is YUMMY!

Our reciepe:

Grease a large flan dish, approximately 25-27cm in diamater.
Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick frying pan, add onion and garlic and cook 1 minute.
Add sweet potato and cook over moderate heat, stirring occasionally until golden brown, this should take about 10 minutes.
Add spinach and cook, stirring 1 minute until spinach is wilted. Cool.
Add feta cheese, stir to combine and place into prepared flan dish.
Beat the 6 eggs in a large jug with milk, nutmeg and pepper and pour over vegetables in flan dish.
Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and pinenuts and bake in a moderate oven 180°C 35-40 minutes until puffed and golden.
Allow to stand for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Serve cut into wedges with a salad on the side, veges, chips or crusty bread rolls.

Paris romantic Picnic + Photo tour

A romantic picnic in Paris + a photo session.

A romantic picnic with Anna and Igor in Paris. Anna came to Paris for a modeling job with her partner Igor who tagged along and met her for a few days. They had the beautiful idea of a romantic picnic in the city and a couple photo session with Olivier. The “Ile Saint-Louis” was the perfect setting for our lovers picnic. They had a wonderful time walking around the neighbourhood snapping a few fun, lovers photographs with beautiful Paris in the backdrop.

We prepared our “Amelie Poulain” picnic for them with some cold meat, a classic traditionnal home made French quiche with leaks from the market, cheese, string beans & avocado  salad and fresh strawberries for desert. Igor offered to his beautiful girlfriend a little market bouquet of freesia.

Picnic & love and some photos to celebrate the occasion and bring back home some souvenirs to share with friends and family. Perfect afternoon & they were so loving and and a perfect match, full of life and happiness.

Love Picnic Paris + Risotto recipe

love-picnic-paris-risotto-recipe

Love Picnic Paris: Risotto with broad beans and Peas & Endive salad with greek feta & cucumber.

Risotto:

  1. Bring chicken stock to boil in a saucepan, keep on a low heat while you are making the risotto.
  2. In saute pan, melt butter and add garlic and onions, allow to cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add rice and stir continuously over a low heat until the grains start to soften.
  4. Over a medium heat begin to add the hot stock a cup at a time, allow rice to absorb all stock before adding next cup of liquid.
  5. Continue to add the stock gradually , stirring all the time for about 15-20 minutes (I prefers to cook her risotto for 40 minutes, but up to you).
  6. Rice is ready when is soft, but still has chalky “bite” to it in the middle.
  7. Tip peas & broad beans in and stir in and heat through, about 3 minutes. by this time the peas & broad beans should be ready and the risotto bubbling again.
  8. Finally stir in parmesan and serve immediately with thinly sliced parmesan on top.
  9. For vegetarian do not use the chicken stock.

Simple endives & cucumber salad to accommodate our risotto with a french vinaigrette & red orange juice.

Home Made Tarte Tatin

tarte-tatin-cake-picnic-paris

Love Picnic Paris: Home made Tarte Tatin

7 medium apples: 7 Granny Smith
200g white sugar
50g butter

One lemon & one vanilla stick
175g ready-made shortcrust pastry OR
225g plain flour
2 tbsp caster sugar
120g cold butter

1. Peel, halve and core the apples, then put in the fridge, uncovered, for 24 hours.

2. Put the sugar into a 20cm heavy-based ovenproof frying pan along with 50ml water and leave to soak for a couple of minutes, then cook over a medium heat until golden. Take off the heat and stir in the butter, and a pinch of salt, until well combined, then carefully arrange the apples in the pan, round-side down, bearing in mind the caramel will be very hot, and put back on the heat – you may need to cut some of the apples into smaller pieces to fill in the gaps. Cook for 5 minutes, then take off the heat and allow to cool completely.

3. If making the pastry, sift the flour into a large mixing bowl and add the sugar and a pinch of salt. Grate in the butter, then rub together until it is coarse crumbs. Add a lemon with a whole stick of vanilla.

4. Pre-heat the oven to 200C. Roll out the pastry (you’ll probably have some left over if you’ve made your own) to 5mm thick, and cut out a circle slightly larger than your pan. Put back into the fridge to rest.

5. Put the pastry on top of the pan and tuck in the edges around the fruit. Bake for about 30 minutes until the pastry is golden, then remove from the oven. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then place a plate, slightly larger than the pan, on top and then, very carefully, using oven gloves, invert the tart on to the plate. Best served warm, with crème fraîche.

Love Picnic Paris + Chocolate & Pear cake

chocolate-cake-picnic-paris

Love Picnic Paris: Chocolate & Pear cake with fresh cream.

Pears and chocolate cake work really well together in this easy-to-prepare, everyday traditional cake. Especially if you have a couple of very ripe pears that you don’t know what to do with. Instead, I just placed chopped pears on top of the cake batter, expecting the cake batter to rise evenly around the pears. easy-to-make, it’s delicious, the chocolate cake texture is just right, and this dessert has fruit in it which is what I love

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 3 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and chopped into large chunks

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt – mix to combine.
  3. Melt the butter and dark chocolate in a small bowl, using a microwave, or on a stove top in a small pan over low heat. Stir well.
  4. Transfer melted chocolate mixture to a large mixing bowl, add granulated sugar, and, using electric mixer, beat on medium-high speed for a couple of minutes until the mixture is light in color. Add eggs and vanilla and continue beating to combine. Add flour mixture and milk, alternating between the two in two additions, into the chocolate mixture.
  5. Grease a 9×9 inch square pan or 9 inch round springform pan. If using a springform pan, line the bottom of the springform pan with a round piece of parchment paper.
  6. Pour the cake batter into the baking pan and place chopped pears on top of the cake batter. Alternatively, you can fold in chopped pears into the cake batter before adding the cake batter into the baking pan.
  7. Bake for about 45 minutes or until the toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out reasonably clean and the cake bounces when touched.
  8. Cool on a wire rack for 15-30 minutes. If using springform pan, release the cake when completely cooled.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving: it will make this tasty cake look really pretty!
